WONDERLAND HAPPY HARBOR IS MOVING!

New Address as of April 30: 10502 - 105 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB

So, it's true. After nearly a decade on 104th Avenue, we're picking up stakes and moving a few blocks away to an exciting new space on the other side of MacEwan, on the corner of 105th Avenue and 105th Street.

There are a few reasons we're doing this, but a big one is that we didn't have a choice. The city seized control of the building a bit before Christmas, intending to demolish it to make way for the new LRT they've been threatening to build for the last fifteen years or so.

Wonderland/Happy Harbor owner Vince Joyall knew this eventuality was not just possible but likely when he swooped in to buy the store and saved all our jobs at the end of 2018. During the last year, plans were prepared. Contingencies considered. Loins girded. We were ready for this.

At least that's what we told ourselves. Now we're looking down the barrel of moving years' worth of comics and associated product over a handful of weeks in the middle of what appears to be the Apocalypse. And some of us aren't feeling quite as ready as we did a few months back.

We always appreciate it when people with pull files or held items pick their stuff up. We appreciate it a lot, but we'll appreciate it that much more in the next two to six weeks. If we've been holding something for you more than two weeks, it would be really great if you could find a way to pick them up before the move.

And also if you could come buy everything else in the store so we don't have to listen to Foley whine about lugging it three whole blocks, that would be handy.

It would be so handy, in fact, that we're having a moving sale starting Saturday March 14 and running to March 29. For those two weeks everything in the store will be 20% off.

After that, we shall see. The original plan (well the sixth original plan, anyway) was for us to have a soft opening at the new location on April 1st, with the Grand Opening on Free Comic Book Day, May 2nd. In addition to celebrating the comics that made the Wonderharbor the Edmonton institution it is, we intended to introduce you to the new features we're bringing to Edmonton's pop culture community like the poutinerie, the dedicated art-making section, and the expanded gaming space.

At this moment, the Grand Opening on May 2nd is still the plan, but as a business currently investing heavily in features built for the express purpose of bringing people together, we're well aware that external circumstances are changing rapidly and it's possible we won't be able to do everything we wanted to when we wanted to.
