HAPPY HARBOR LOGO CONTEST
Well, it's been over a year since our move to Edmonton. We've published four books, raised over $3000 for various charities, taught comic making classes, played some games and even sold a couple of comics along the way. Our recent expansion of the flagship store takes us another step forward in realizing bigger dreams and as HH is about to celebrate its 7th Anniversary this fall, it seems fitting that we continue to change as we grow.
HH is looking for a new logo: something slick, bold and agile so we'll have presence and flexibility in whatever medium we choose to advertise in. Don't get us wrong, we love our current logo but we are tweaking the name of the store and if we expand with other stores, we will need something that's adaptable to other possible name and environment changes.
The new name of the store will be "Happy Harbor Comics"
And we want you to design the new Happy Harbor Comics logo!
Are there any restrictions? No, however you should consider the store's colours, tone and feel and understand that the image will be used on business cards, store signage and more so it should easily migrate to different areas of advertising.
What specifically do we want?
· a full colour logo with name and mascot
· a black and white version of the logo and mascot
· a full colour logo using just the "HH" initials
· a black and white version of the initials
· files of the fonts and colours for future alterations or adaptations
If working digitally, the preferred file formats are .psd, .ai or tifs. Ensure that the images are camera ready minimum print resolution of 900 dpi and burned on portable media such as CD or DVD. Please do not submit electronically through email or ftp. If working traditionally, please ensure that high-quality copies are sent to us. Do not send originals. All material submitted to the logo contest becomes the property of Happy Harbor Comics and we are under no obligation to return contest material unless a SASE is included with submission.
The winner will be credited for the logo creation on the Happy Harbor website for as long as we continue to use the logo. Finally, the winner will receive a sweet cash prize of $250 and $250 in store credit.
The deadline for entries is June 14, 2006.

I represent and warrant to you, your successors, and assigns that
the Material is original with me and that no other persons other than
those who have signed this agreement have collaborated with me in
creating and developing the Material.

I understand that (with the exception of self-promotion) I have no
further claim to compensation, royalty, dividend or lien for Material
should that Material be chosen by independent forum as the winning
entry other than the contest prize of $250 Cdn credit for Happy Harbor
retail product purchase and $250 Cdn cash prize. To attempt to demand,
request or imply further compensation for Material, will render contest
compensation void.
3.
Your consideration of the Material and any negotiations between us
regarding the Material shall not be deemed an admission of the novelty
or originality of the Material.

You may retain a copy of the Material and I release you from any liability
for loss or damage thereto.
5.
I hereby grant you the right to use the Material provided that you
shall first conclude an agreement with me (constituting contest renumeration
and no further claim or warrant) for such use or you shall determine
that you have an independent legal right to use the Material or any
portion thereof which is not derived from me either because the Material
is not new, novel, or original or has not been reduced to concrete
form or because other persons (which may include your employees and
other persons presenting materials to you) have submitted similar
or identical suggestions, features, and material which you have the
right to use.

This Agreement shall be construed solely under the

In the event of any dispute that requires dispute resolution, the
prevailing party shall be entitled to receive reimbursement from the
nonprevailing party for all mediation, arbitration, and other legal
costs, expenses, and fees, in addition to any other recovery or award.

This agreement constitutes our entire understanding and my signature
and the signature of any person who has collaborated with me in the
creation or development of the Material shall constitute agreement
to the terms and conditions set forth herein. This agreement may be
changed only by a written instrument signed by you and me. This agreement
also applies to any other material which I may submit to you unless
it is agreed by us in writing to the contrary. The invalidity of any
provision of this agreement shall not affect the remainder, which
shall continue in full force and effect.
